Alexander Paine is an organist, theorist and teacher based in Basel, Switzerland. A graduate of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, and the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Alexander is now established as a reliable and skilful musician through a wide range of professional endeavours.
Alexander is a qualified organist, pianist, and recorder player, and has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral member across Europe and Australia. His diverse and wide-ranging musical activities lend him an extraordinary range of knowledge, and his creativity and flair for performance make him a dynamic and exciting musician in concert.
In addition to Alexander’s consistency as a performer, he is also a highly capable music theorist and pedagogue, having taught privately and in universities. His unique knack for approaching difficult and challenging theoretical subjects in a variety of ways, often arriving at the heart of the matter in a clear and direct manner, allows Alexander to effectively engage with his students, regardless of the subject matter.
